Paris Original Artwork and Sea otter Poetry on Exhibition Dec-March @ The new Sant Ocean Hall
Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History- Washington D.C.
Lovin’ Sea Otters Comfort – By Paris Shewfelt ( age 7)
Surrounded by the Monterey Bay shoreline, my playful mother & daughter sea otters float together…
wrapped in the kelp forest that gives them comfort and safety
as the tide goes in and out.
They look to us with eyes of hope,
that we will take care of their home…today and in the future.
Deep down in the ocean’s sea floor canyons lives a variety of coral, rocks, sea stars and jellyfish.
My picture shows how a healthy ocean can provide such beauty.
Monterey inspires me because it is one of my favorite places to visit and bring friends.
My passion to paint and be creative, allows me to build friendships
between other kids and introduce them
to the beautiful world living under the sea.
I love to inspire emotions
that turn interest
into protecting our oceans
Bringing the kids of the green generation
Together…
with excitement
to
Save our planet.

I had a busy schedule as I shared my ambitions to protect the oceans, with some of my favorite politicians. The President: George Bush, Senator Barbara Boxer, and Assemblywomen Anna Eschoo who care and take the time to meet with me, hear the voices of the Green Generation who come to them looking for help in protecting our oceans. Especially those off the California coast:
My favorite one, The Pacific cocean. Home to my furry friends, The California Sea Otters
On my recient trip to Washington D.C. – Capitol Hil
” The health of our ocean is crucial to our future. The ocean covers 70 percent of the earth and we rely on it for food, commerce and the crutial role it plays in the earth’s hydrologic cycles and atmospheric process”- Lautenbacher, Jr.
Meeting with Senator Barbara Boxer – “What a wonderful representive from California. She took time in her busy day to greet me and accept my gifts of Freshly grown lavender and a copy of my Monterey Bay Sea otters artwork ” ( Sept. 25 2008)
Calif. Congresswomen Anna. Eschoo’ personal assistant answering my questions on how and what Mrs. Eschoo does to help protect the ocean and California coast. ( Sitting in her office Sept. 25, 2008). Giving her a gift of my lavender and ocean artwork and looking at the successful bills on her wall that she wrote.
What a wonderful time to be in Washington!
Perfect timing, I got to see even more of my ocean artwork that I worked on in Beijing, China from this past July.
Newly unveiled for the first time, in the United Stated on the Smithsonian Mall.
I was able to see the ” Hands across the oceans” canvas mureals as they were all linked together and ready for the American public to see.
Kicking off the celebration and opening of the Saint Ocean Halls opening, this epic artpiece will soon be traveling across the U.S.A to help bring awareness to the need preserve our precious water.

keeping the beaches clean, keeps the ocean clean

It’s it’s easy for you too, to take action to help care for the ocean you love to enjoy.
Because of you, a whole new world under the water can live in a clean environment if you choose to take action for your generation.
Clean the beach every time you vist. Offer a cleaner beach to others after each visit by taking all your trash and any itmes found that don’t belong on the beach or washed into the ocean,
It’s easy, and it saves the lives of fish, sea otters, whales, dolphins, and all the other sealife that live the the big blue.
